Volunteer Event: We Don’t Waste’s Lalo Delgado Mobile Food Market
August 26 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm MDTFree – $25.00
Come join Women in Sustainability for a fun day of volunteering, helping We Don’t Waste, in the greater Denver area, recover food for homeless shelters and those in need! Our capacity for this event will only be 8 people, so if you cannot make this event, please do not RSVP. Otherwise, RSVP early if you can definitely make it, as spots will fill up quickly! We will be helping with the organization’s North MiddleSchool Mobile Food Market on Saturday, April 16 from 12:00pm – 3:30pm.
We will help fill families’ cars with bags of produce, dairy, and non-perishables, as well as direct traffic and help everything run smoothly.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet some people and support a good cause! The shift will be outside. All COVID protocols in place at the time of the event will apply. An email will be sent to you prior to the event with more information.
In addition, you will be sent an email with a link to register through We Don’t Waste and sign the volunteer waiver. All volunteers are required to complete this registration form. Please note, all participants must be over the age of 15.
Please RSVP to reserve your spot!
About our Partner
We Don’t Waste was founded in 2009 to address the issues of food waste and food insecurity. They are one of the largest food recovery organizations in Colorado, having recovered approximately 30 million meals since they’ve started.
They focus on perishable items including fresh produce, lean proteins, and dairy products. They supplement food provided by food assistance programs with fresh food reclaimed by their food donors. This allows the organization to continuously feed the hungry with healthy and wholesome meals, without increasing their operating costs.
We Don’t Waste constantly has volunteer opportunities, where volunteers work in drive thru’s to get meals to those in need. They are always looking for volunteers to help them distribute meals!
