September Description:

“Did you know that the average American reads at a 5th-grade reading level? When you’re writing about sustainability, be it a personal Facebook post, or your sustainable business’ website, it’s important to meet the masses where they’re at. In this talk, Kelcie Ottoes, a copywriter for sustainable brands, shares 6(ish) tips to make your writing more accessible. We can’t change what we don’t understand. Let’s bring more folks into the fold and increase our impact.”

About the Presenter:

Kelcie is a copywriter who helps sustainable brands tell their stories better. Working with her means creating copy that stays top of mind with your consumers and that stands out from the crowd. She has experience with white papers, web copy, emails, blog posts, product descriptions, reports, case studies and more. She prefers bigger projects, where we can create an impact together, but will occasionally take a one-off project! As a creative writer and a previous community manager, Kelcie knows that in order to create better copy we need to know your audience inside and out. Before you work together, she likes to gather a deeper understanding of your audience and your brand. From there, you’ll strategically create storylines that are easily accessible to your audience. Storylines create powerful, memorable narratives, necessary to your brand’s success. She works with sustainable brands because your stories are the ones that need to be told now to save our planet. Let’s work together to expand and accelerate your impact.
