Food is the unifying force amongst all humans. It offers an opportunity to talk to anyone, about anything, with the mutual sustenance on the table serving as a simultaneous protection against unknown forces and bridge to the unknown sitting across the table. Food is magnetic, disarming and enchanting all at once and is the medicine that keeps us alive, connected and thriving, all critical components of healthy, sustainable communities.
About the Presenter:
After spending seven years in Hollywood working as a freelance filmmaker as well as for both a global talent agency and major television studio, Kayla decided she wanted to take some time to experience the world rather than watch other people do it on the big (and small) screen. From May 2015 to May 2016 she traveled through Asia, Europe and South America. Traveling gave her a passion for creating “experiences” and an insatiable desire to experience new cultures and connect with people. So, she founded The Same Plate, a company that creates curated cultural food experiences for those interested in exploring their local cities, through food, and getting inspired by the vibrancy present in cultural diversity.
